WHO: This year's CURATOR/ORGANIZER IS ROBB MITCHELL. As a curator, producer and event organiser, Robb Mitchell has had co-founding roles in the development of many interdisciplinary creative initiatives including The Chateau, Free Gallery, Machinista Glasgow 2004 and the new media / hacklab Electron Club at Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA) Glasgow. He is also a board member of Clydeside Initiative for the Arts (Studio Warehouse). With New Media Scotland he organised the Scottish node of the Upgrade! international network of art & technology gatherings.
WHAT: THIS YEAR'S THEME: SHORT & FAST.
Short and fast digital animations / films / works. We are looking for work that is small in file size and quick in linear time. The exhibits will be held at various airfields in the northern Orkney Isles, home of the "The Worlds Shortest Scheduled Flight" . ACCEPTED FORMAT: .MOV Maximum file size: 5MB Maximum Length: 2 MINUTES. NOTE: If you have full frame work of appropriate duration that will not compress to less than 5MB, we suggest you reduce your frame size to 480 x 360 pixels or at a minimum 320 x 240 pixels. MULTIPLE SUBMISSIONS ENCOURAGED.
WHERE: This year's physical exhibits will be held at various airfields in the northern Orkney Isles, Scotland (by kind permission of Orkney Islands Council) and with very special assistance from Loganair.
WHEN: SUBMISSION DEADLINE: AUGUST 25th, 2007 Exhibits to take place December 2007.
ABOUT PIXEL POPS!: PixelPops! is an ongoing, traveling series of annual digital art exhibits. The series is uniquely organic in that it changes with each year's new locale and the creativity each new curator brings to it. Year after year the online catalogue continues to grow and provides new resonances and global connections in artistic interpretation. PixelPops was founded by and is set in motion each year (from afar) by Colleen Tully.
